Software Package Description
 

The EasyLink™ WD Real-Time Software Package (Atlantic-Link RTS-P) was developed for both Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP and Unix-oriented OS platforms. The EasyLink™ WD software can be installed on any external unattended computer system. Customer can use Atlantic-Link RTS-P on different hardware platforms such as unattended computer, file/database server, Web-server, gateway server, communication server, industrial micro-controller and etc.

  The EasyLink™ WD software package includes:
  • Computer based control software
  • Software Sensor Component (up to 64000)
  • Software Development Kit
  • Installation Software
  • Configuration and Testing Utility

The EasyLink™ WATCHDOG REAL-TIME SOFTWARE PACKAGE
 
Generally Atlantic-Link RTS-P platform is installed in the same place where the WD Controller is placed. The Atlantic-Link RTS-P core consists of Central Module, the WD Controller Interface Driver Module, Protocol Driver Module and Communication Driver Module. Additional modules include the Software Sensors Control Module with PING protocol and Callback Module.

The Central Module controls software core and inter Modules interactions.

The WD Controller Interface Driver Module controls interoperability between the Atlantic-Link RTS-P and the EasyLink™ WD Controller embedded software (firmware).

Protocol Driver Module controls the Atlantic-Link Communication Protocol and commands between the computer and the EasyLink™ WD Controller.

The Communication Driver Module is standard computer driver for COM or USB (optional) port (Windows or Unix-oriented OS).

The Software Sensors Control Module with PING protocol interoperates with Central Module via TCP Socket Protocol. Thus, it could be located at remote place from the EasyLink™ WD Controller. Software sensors designated for computer resource monitoring such as processor utilization, hard disk free space availability, OS status and much more. Software Sensors Control Module can be used for additional software sensors/modules self-development. Additional software sensor modules interoperate with The Software Sensors Control Modules via PING protocol. For example, User could develop some software (card reader behavior sensor, modem activity sensor, banking transaction activity control module and much more) and uses Software Sensors Control Module for his software status monitoring. If self-developed software module is connected via TCP Socket Protocol to Central Module PING process will start. If any PING process destabilization occurs, the Atlantic-Link RTS-P will start the EasyLink™ WD Restart Procedure or safe user procedure.

The Callback Module controls interoperability between the Atlantic-Link RTS-P and the EasyLink™ WD Controller. Callback Module is developed as standard call back procedure. Callback Module connects to Central Module via TCP Socket Protocol too.

The Communication Interface Driver module is a driver providing physical junction for COM and USB ports under Windows or Unix-like OS.

The Program Sensors Management Module with ping protocol provides connections of software sensors to Central Module through TCP protocol. This module provides connections for software sensors controlling computer resources. The availability of this module allows to client possessing the EasyLink™ Watchdog Controller and SDK to modify existent software and develop user software improving system functionality.

SOFTWARE SENSOR COMPONENTS
 
The user can develop and connect to Central Module up to 64000 software sensors. Any software sensor could be located at remote place from the EasyLink™ WD Controller. After starting, Central Module via Software Sensors Control Module will monitor software sensors. Every software sensor has its PING Timeout. Every PING Timeout Central Module will send a PING to software sensor. If PING Timeout process destabilization occurs, Central Module will start the EasyLink™ WD Restart Procedure or call another user application to handle processes.

  In current software (ver. 1.0), which supported by Win32 platform the following software sensors were developed by Atlantic-Link:

  • mailsensor software sensor (Programs\EASY Watchdog\Sensors\Event Messenger). It will send E-mail message if it receives a signal form the EasyLink™ Watchdog Controller. The EasyLink™ Watchdog Controller will send a signal if some physical external sensor changes current status or some power supply is lost. \Sensors\mailsensor.cfg file includes mailsensor parameters setting.

  • hwsensor software sensor (Programs\EASY Watchdog\Sensors\Event Monitor). It will start user software application if receives a signal from the EasyLink™ Watchdog Controller. \Sensors\hwsensor.cfg file includes hwsensor parameters setting.

  • Sysdownsensor.exe and sysupsensor.exe software sensors are included to the EasyLink™ Watchdog\Sensors\ directory too. They provide the switching computer power supply on/off according to the scheduler. Systemdown sensor gets as a parameter IP address or Host name where the EasyLink™ Watchdog Control Center module is running on (central.exe). After this it will close correctly OS and software application and switch off the power supply. Systemup software sensor gets as parameters IP address or Host name where the EasyLink™ Watchdog Control Center module is running on (central.exe) and the schedule to switch on computer power supply (DD.MM.YYYY hh:mm). You can use "localhost" as a parameter of IP address of Control Center module (central.exe).

The Atlantic-Link_Watchdog software sensors include demo sensors Command.exe and CallBack.exe. These sensors demonstrate basic functionality of the EasyLink™ Watchdog software sensors. A software sensor gets as a parameter IP address or Host name where the EasyLink™ Watchdog Control Center is running on.
 
THE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT (SDK)
 
The SDK includes Software Development User Guide, DLL and API interface description, Open Source Code.

 SDK is designated to:
  • Encapsulate the EasyLink™ WD RTS-P and the EasyLink™ WD Controller into user self developed software application
  • Develop additional user application software sensors
  • Provide the user self develop process with real time software package for the EasyLink™ Watchdog Controller
  • Provide the user self develop process with real time software package for other watchdog controller

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
 
The WD Installation package includes the installations of:
  • the Atlantic-Link RTS-P
  • the Configuration & Testing Utility
  • several Software Sensors

THE CONFIGURATION & TEST UTILITY
 
The Utility uses for the EasyLink™ WD initial parameters setting such as Communication Driver Port parameter (COM or USB (optional)), PING Frequency Timeout between the EasyLink™ WD Controller and the computer, the EasyLink™ WD Reset Timeout, OS load Timeout, Central Module IP-address setting, Software DLLs list. User can test connection status between the EasyLink™ WD Controller and external computer.
